"It's more interesting to be a part of the future than the past."

Markus Nielsen is studying at Martec to become a Marine Engineer. He has had the opportunity to take his final traineeship in the Project Department at Svanehøj.

- Svanehøj offers solutions to support the green transition, and I would like to be a part of that. It's great to be in a company working to phase out fossil fuels. It is more interesting to be a part of the future than the past, says Markus Nielsen.

A company in development

Markus sees Svanehøj as a company where most employees have great flexibility and self-influence at work. It is also a workplace where you help each other. The management at Svanehøj works to promote co-ownership, development, and responsibility. The organizational structure is flat, and there is an informal, friendly tone in the workplace. This promotes positive relationships between colleagues, says Markus.

- I chose Svanehøj as it is a forward going company which appeals to me. Furthermore, the company was recommended to me by several people, confirming my first impression that Svanehøj was the right place to apply, says Markus Nielsen.

Very free hands at work

A traineeship at Svanehøj is very versatile, and Markus feels that he has a great influence on the job. He has participated in everything from performance tests of pumps to developing a new tool for price calculation of packaging.

- I have very free hands at work, and I get to work within areas I find exciting. Management is very open to my suggestions, says Markus Nielsen and adds:

- There are many marine engineers employed at Svanehøj. It gives me an insight into career opportunities. The experiences I build here I will be able to use in my future career.
