One of Southeast Asia’s most advanced test hubs for engine room pumps
At the department in Singapore, Svanehøj conducts full-scale in-house tests of a wide range of pump models ranging from small ballast and water-cooling pumps to large fire water and cargo offloading pumps.
In addition, the test facility is supported by in-house pump assembly and maintenance capabilities.
"What sets us apart is the depth of in-house expertise and testing capacity we've built over decades. We run complete FATs for all pump sizes, which is often required by offshore customers," says Jason Goh, Head of Operations at Svanehoj Singapore.
The Singapore facility features three dedicated test stations, including one with a 5-meter-deep water pit for large pumps and firewater package testing. Advanced variable frequency drivers (VFDs) allow us to run tests at variable speeds, closely simulating real operating conditions up to 6,000 m³/h and 18 bar differential pressure.
Fresh water is recirculating through a closed-loop system in the deep-water pit to minimize waste, and each test station is equipped with torque transducers, flowmeters, and differential pressure sensors. Testing is centrally controlled and fully automated from the control station, where specialized software generates detailed performance curves for every pump.
"With complete control over the test process, we ensure consistency, accuracy, and rapid turnaround on our customers’ pumps", says Jason Goh.
