Enhancing safety in large-scale LNG infrastructure in Africa:

Svanehoj contributes to major LNG project in Nigeria

 

Svanehoj has been selected to deliver the tank gauging system for one of the most significant LNG developments underway in Nigeria, the PADAH LNG project, located in Eastern Obolo, Akwa Ibom. Supplying instrumentation for tanks of this size places considerable demands on both performance and reliability.

 

The project supports Nigeria’s strategy to use its natural gas resources more efficiently and to reduce gas flaring.

 

The development centers around a liquefaction plant with a planned capacity of 3.4 MTPA and two full-containment LNG storage tanks, each with a capacity of 200,000 m³.

 

China Chengda Engineering Co., Ltd., in partnership with China Chemical Engineering 14th Construction Co., Ltd., will execute the project under a lump-sum turnkey EPC contract. Both companies bring extensive experience in large-scale LNG and cryogenic infrastructure.

 

Tank gauging systems for large-capacity LNG storage

Accurate and reliable measurement is essential for maintaining stable and safe operations across all phases of storage and handling. As part of the project scope, Svanehoj has been selected to supply the tank gauging system for the LNG storage tanks.

·      Operational safety

·      Rollover risk monitoring and prediction; and

·      Long-term reliability of cryogenic storage facilities

Svanehoj will partner with Key On Gas (KOG). Key On Gas brings strong knowledge of the regulatory landscape and project requirements, helping coordinate stakeholders and align the solution with on-site needs.
