Group onboarding marks a great start for Svanehoj's new production employees
With production running at full speed to meet global demand for high-performance marine fuel and cargo pumps, onboarding remains a top priority at Svanehoj. Recently, 25 new production team members gathered for a group introduction day facilitated to connect people and provide a solid introduction to the company.
More than 190 people applied when Svanehoj recently opened new positions within marine pump assembly at the factory in Svenstrup, Denmark. From a strong pool of candidates, 25 were selected and are now well underway in their new roles, supported by dedicated Svanehoj colleagues.
"Our new employees come with diverse backgrounds but share valuable experience from production work. That's a great starting point as they join a highly specialized and fast-paced pump production here at Svanehoj. Bringing so many new people on board at once is quite a task, and it takes a great deal of preparation and teamwork across the organization to ensure a smooth onboarding," says Production Manager André Jelstrup.
A bit like the first day of school
As part of the onboarding process, Svanehoj arranged a joint introduction day packed with insights into the company’s products, safety standards, and culture, while also covering practical matters related to the premises. Workwear supplier Mascot also stopped by to help everyone order their new Svanehoj uniforms and safety shoes in the right size.
"It was such a good experience and really the highlight of what's been a hectic but super rewarding process. A lot of people have come together, first on recruitment and then on planning the introduction day and onboarding, to make sure our new colleagues get the best possible start," says Sofie Svendsen, HR Operations Consultant at Svanehoj.
"At first, the atmosphere was a little quiet, but after a while, people started opening up, and soon the room filled with conversation. It's a bit like the first day of school where everyone needs a little time to settle in. One advantage of welcoming so many new people at once is that they can support each other. For us, it's been important to create that sense of belonging. We want everyone to feel part of Svanehoj from the very beginning," she adds.
A huge recognition of the team
Employment in Denmark is at a record high and has been growing steadily for almost two years. Even so, Svanehoj has completed an extensive recruitment process in a short period, a testament to the company's strong reputation and appeal in the local area.
"Several of our new colleagues mentioned that they applied because they'd heard from others that Svanehoj is just a really good place to work. That's a huge recognition of the whole team and the culture we're building together,” says Sofie.
