Talented intern innovates in ESV redesign project
At Svanehøj, COVID-19 has, among other things, led to limited travel activity for travelling fitters and new procedures at the head office in Denmark. However, even though the global crisis has been – and continues to be – a major challenge for the company, it has largely succeeded in meeting deliveries and maintaining a high level of service for customers.
“The most important thing for us at this time is to ensure the health and safety of employees and customers, which is why we have made sure to keep employees in production and administration separate. We have done that by holding staggered breaks in the canteen, and office staff who have had the option to work at home have done so, while production and distribution have continued as usual,” says Tina Sand, HR Manager at Svanehøj.
At Svanehøj’s head office, social distancing and hand sanitising have become a natural part of everyday life. Many employees continue to work from home, visits from outside are limited and controlled, and corona-friendly servings in small bowls have replaced the buffet in the canteen.
“But the restrictions have also resulted in good things. We have, for example, realised that we can travel less without it impacting on our service to customers. Our employees have quickly adapted to holding the vast majority of meetings online, and in many cases, we have seen a noticeable improvement in the efficiency of internal meetings. People are better prepared and more focused. Microsoft Teams has actually become an indispensable tool for us,” says Tina Sand and continues:
“In general, we have experienced an impressively high degree of flexibility and readiness for change among our employees, and in the company in general, when it comes to finding new solutions to many unforeseen problems.”
Tina Sand emphasises that management at Svanehøj is following developments closely in order to continuously adjust guidelines and work procedures in accordance with the authorities’ recommendations. In this way, Svanehøj ensures that the highest possible level of health, safety and service is maintained for both employees and customers.
