Svanehøj joins Danish maritime apprentice program
To inspire the younger generations to choose a career in the maritime industry, Svanehøj is now part of the maritime apprentice program created by Erhvervsservice Nord.
Through networking, CEO Søren Kringelholt Nielsen from Svanehøj got introduced to Erhvervsservice Nord and its apprentice program for the maritime industry. And from here, they quickly agreed on membership.
- Erhvervsservice Nord is so passionate about promoting education within the maritime industry that we instantly saw the value of membership. Anette H. Sørensen from Erhvervsservice Nord will ensure close collaboration with the schools in Northern Jutland and attract new apprentices. Thereby, we can focus solely on our responsibility to educate the young people, says Tina Donslund, Global HR Manager at Svanehøj.
Strong collaboration between companies
Among other things, the apprentice program aims to inspire the younger generations to choose an education within the maritime industry, such as industrial technician, blacksmith, or electrician. This type of education is being opted out by large parts of the younger generations. Therefore, it is all about establishing unique experiences for future apprentices.
- It requires a focused effort to attract the younger generation to our industry. Therefore, we work closely with the other companies in the program. Together we can establish unique educational courses and possibilities. For example, an apprentice can have a learning path based on experiences from two or more companies, thereby gaining experience with different subjects within the industry, says Tina Donslund.
Through the membership, Svanehøj has the resources to include more apprentices and is already looking for the next one. Svanehøj was recently approved to educate storage and logistics operators and is now searching for the right apprentice to fill this position.
The members of the apprentice program are: MAN Energy Solutions, Rasi Maskinfabrik, Orskov Yard, Hirtshals Yard, Mariendal, Vestkajens Maskinværksted, EnTech Marine, Alfa Laval, SeaMech, Soft & Teknik - and Svanehøj.
