Svanehøj includes in-house gauging system calibration capabilities
Svanehøj has strengthened its in-house capabilities in Calais with a new calibration lab for tank gauging sensors. The investment will significantly reduce processing time and the cost of recalibrating customers' sensors.
A new calibration lab in Calais, France, makes Svanehøj the first density monitoring manufacturer in the cryogenic storage industry to offer a certified sensor calibration. It will apply to both Svanehøj products as well as competitor solutions.
- Our customers must have the correct data delivered at the right time. It is crucial in their daily operations and decision-making process. With the in-house calibration lab, the supply chain execution speed will improve and reduce LTD operation downtimes. It will bring value to customers and Svanehøj at the end of the day, explained Axel Proc, Sales Manager for aftersales in Svanehøj France.
A must-have asset
Until now, the sensor calibration process has been in the scope of Svanehøj's sensor supplier in the US. But last year, the supplier announced that its sensor would go out of production by the end of 2022, and Svanehøj had to adapt its strategy.
According to Axel Proc, the new calibration lab is crucial to the strategy, significantly reducing processing time and the cost of recalibrating customers' sensors.
- The calibration lab is a must-have asset. Calibration of the sensor on density readings is a critical aspect of our LTD gauges to keep them best-in-class when it comes to density and temperature monitoring systems for cryogenic tank storage, explained Axel Proc.
A new in-house developed sensor will be ready in Q3
Following the announcement from the sensor supplier, Svanehøj promptly stocked up with sensors to ensure customer requirements until the end of 2024. In parallel, Svanehøj has been developing a new sensor, which will be an important aspect of the future product strategy.
- The new sensor will be as effective as the old one – if not better. It is adapted to the latest technologies and will be a plug-in-play solution, so we can easily replace sensors in existing systems without increasing customer costs. With the new calibration lab and a new sensor around the corner, we can assist our customers to an even greater extent, explained Melvin Nielsen, Managing Director at Svanehøj France.
Svanehøj expects the new sensor to be ready for implementation in Q3 2024.
