Scope 1 & 2 GHG reduction target reached a year ahead of schedule

In 2024, Svanehøj achieved a significant ESG milestone by reaching the 2025 target for our scope 1+2 GHG emissions – one year ahead of schedule. Compared to our 2021 baseline, we have reduced emissions per mDKK revenue by 52%, surpassing our goal of a 50% reduction (2022-2025).

The newly released ”Svanehøj ESG 2024 Highlights” also shows a notable decrease of 59% in scope 1+2 emissions per 1,000 production hours and 20% in scope 1+2 emissions per full-time employee.

The improvement in emissions intensity reflects our ongoing efforts to decouple economic growth from environmental impact, demonstrating meaningful progress toward a more sustainable business model.

Seizing opportunities in the energy transition

Climate change represents both significant risks and opportunities for Svanehøj. Regulatory shifts, supply chain disruptions, changing customer demands, and the green transition at sea must all be considered as substantial material risks to our company. However, these topics also presents significant business opportunities that Svanehøj is well-positioned to seize.

In 2024, we delivered high-performance solutions for key projects involving LNG, ammonia, and Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS). These contributions include fuel pumps for ammonia powered bulk carriers, safety systems for new LNG terminals, and cargo pump solutions for dedicated LCO2 carriers and land-based storage.

Recognizing shipping's urgent need for innovation, we have committed to directing at least 95% of all R&D investments into solutions and products that support our mindset of "Powering a better future".

We have already invested significantly in new products for LNG, and in 2024 we introduced our new “HP NH3 Fuel Pump”, the world’s first high-pressure centrifugal pump for ammonia fuel applications.

Our patented DW Fuel Pump has surpassed 1,000 units sold, with more than half of these delivered since 2022. The DW Fuel Pump is fully compatible with e-fuels, such as green ammonia and methanol, and as the development and supply of e-fuels advance, its potential for reducing CO2 emissions will continue to grow.

New ESG targets from 2025

The year 2025 marks the conclusion of our current ESG strategy period. In response, we have initiated a revision of our strategic framework to define new ESG targets beyond 2025.

These targets will be anchored in the focus areas “People”, “Products”, and “Production”, and will be presented in our “2025 ESG Highlights”.
