70 Svanehøj employees checked in for a free health check
The health and safety of people is an integrated part of the ESG strategy in Svanehøj, and the company is committed to fostering the best possible working conditions for all employees.
To support this agenda, Svanehøj recently conducted a health check program for all colleagues at the headquarters in Svenstrup J., Aalborg in collaboration with Aalborg Municipality.
The program provides optional and free individual health checks, which include everything from blood pressure measurement and Tanita biometric measurements (body composition, BMI, and metabolic age), to conversations about mental health and physical well-being.
The health check was backed by 2-3 nurses who visited the Svanehøj facilities, over a period of 4 weeks, offering individualized conversations based on a pre-prepared questionnaire concerning sleep habits, stress levels, eating habits, and more.
A flexible approach
Sofie Svendsen, student assistant in the Svanehøj HR department, is part of the program, assisting with the scheduling of the health checks.
- What's unique about our approach is the flexibility for each employee to tailor the health check to his or her own needs and desires. Employees can address concerns they might have or simply just use it as an opportunity to check if everything is fine, Sofie explains.
- This initiative has fostered a consensus on the importance of preventive health checks. But we did not see a lot of interest right away. It appears that people needed to take some time to evaluate the offer for themselves. Later, the message spread, resulting in a massive increase in bookings which led to an extension of the program.
Prior to the health check, all employees were encouraged to complete an online survey about the work environment in Svanehøj, allowing for a data-driven approach to preventative interventions based on the information gathered.
- In keeping with our ESG strategy, we aim for zero health and safety incidents, and the health check program is a very practical approach to help us achieve it. An individual health check may provide reassurance about your own health. Also, the online surveys help Svanehøj to address some general work related issues. The data presents a valuable opportunity to gain insights into the workplace environment, enabling us to ensure optimal conditions both physically and psychologically, says Sofie.
