From compliance-driven to impact-driven: Svanehoj sets new ESG targets

People, Product and Production are the central focus areas towards 2030, as Svanehoj aims to further improve workplace safety and employee retention, double revenue from low- and zero-emission marine fuel solutions, and reduce emissions across products, production, and logistics.

In a changing energy landscape, our direction remains clear: to develop the technologies, operations, and organization needed to support responsible growth and cleaner marine fuels.

The recently published “ESG Highlights 2025” concluded a four-year ESG strategy period and marked a transition in how we approach sustainability across Svanehoj. Now, a new five-year period with targets towards 2030 will build on this progress, with a more impact-driven approach closely aligned with Svanehoj’s business and global organization.

”Both Svanehoj and the world around us have changed significantly since we defined our previous ESG targets in 2021. Svanehoj has grown both organically and through acquisitions, while energy security, supply stability, and the need for reliable energy infrastructure have become increasingly important globally. Our new targets reflect these changes. They give us a common direction across our global organization, with a stronger focus on where our business can drive meaningful and measurable progress,” says Elisabeth Kjær Aarup, Head of Sustainability and Process Governance, at Svanehoj.

Three ESG focus areas towards 2030

During the 2022-25 ESG strategy period, sustainability has become more closely integrated into how we operate, from product development and safety culture to production planning, supplier collaboration and organizational development.

Reflecting this development, the previous four focus areas – People, Planet, Solutions and Supply Chain – have been consolidated into three: People, Product and Production. The new structure brings our ESG targets closer to Svanehoj’s core activities and reflects the sustainability matters identified as most relevant to the business and its stakeholders. Environmental and supply chain considerations remain central but are now embedded across Product and Production.

The new targets reflect an integrated and impact-driven approach. Rather than working with ESG as a separate initiative, we will focus on the areas where we can create tangible value: supporting the transition towards low- and zero-emission marine fuels, reducing emissions associated with our products and operations, making better use of our global manufacturing footprint, and ensuring that Svanehoj remains a safe and engaging place to work.

People
Target 1

Achieve zero recordable injuries across all Svanehoj sites by 2030.

Target 2
Maintain a voluntary turnover at 6-10%.

Product

Target 3
Double the revenue from low- and zero-emission marine fuel solutions by 2030 compared to 2025.

Target 4

Achieve a 20% reduction in upstream material-related CO2e emissions per unit of product for strategic product lines by 2030 relative to baseline.

Production
Target 5

Reduce long-haul logistics-related CO2e emissions by at least 15% by 2030 relative to 2025.

Target 6

Reduce Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions intensity (tCO2e per mDKK revenue) by 50% by 2030 relative to our 2025 baseline.

These targets set the direction towards 2030, while the initiatives supporting them will continue to evolve as we gain new insights and identify opportunities for improvement across our business. We will share relevant initiatives and progress along the way, with the first full-year status on the new strategy period to be presented in ESG Highlights 2026, scheduled for publication in Q2 2027.
