Experienced compressor executive to lead Svanehoj KOHO’s next phase of growth

With nearly 14 years of experience in the compressor and energy industry, Jens Wulff joined Svanehoj as Managing Director of KOHO and Head of Compressors on 1 July 2026. His focus will be on scaling Svanehoj’s compressor business, building on KOHO’s more than 80 years of gas compression expertise.

Jens Wulff brings extensive experience in compression technology, industrial production, and international business development. Trained as an aeronautical engineer, he began his professional career in the German Air Forces before joining German compressor manufacturer Neuman & Esser in 2012.

He initially worked with project execution and sales, including a major compressor project for Shell’s Prelude FLNG facility. Over the following years, he held senior positions across production, sales, and management, most recently serving as Managing Director of the German organization and CEO for EMEA and India.

This combination of commercial, operational, and technical experience will be central to his task of scaling Svanehoj’s compressor business and fully realize the potential of KOHO’s compressor technology and product portfolio.

“KOHO has strong products, deep technical expertise, and more than 500 compressors in operation. The foundation is already in place, and there is considerable potential to bring these capabilities to more customers and markets. To achieve that, commercial growth must be supported by production, logistics, sourcing, and service. The different parts of the business have to develop together,” Jens explains.

“What attracted me to Svanehoj and KOHO was the combination of proven compressor technology, deep engineering expertise, and the opportunity to build a stronger international business around it. The potential is tangible, and the backing from Svanehoj and ITT creates a strong platform for growth.”

The task is not to reinvent KOHO
KOHO specializes in custom reciprocating compressors for demanding gases and applications. These compressors are engineered in small series and tailored to customer requirements, backed by in-house expertise and a strong track record.

“The task is not to reinvent KOHO. It is to build on the company’s engineering expertise while strengthening the commercial and operational structures needed to grow the business,” says Jens.

Initially Jens will prioritize strengthening sales, expanding project capacity, modernizing processes, and integrating KOHO more closely with Svanehoj and ITT. Historically, KOHO has operated as an independent and highly specialized company. As part of Svanehoj and ITT, the company now has access to broader market reach, complementary technologies, and an international service and supply network.

“Svanehoj brings extensive experience in marine pumps, fuel systems, cargo handling, packaging, and global service. Across ITT, we also have access to relevant technologies such as valves and heat exchangers. By connecting these capabilities, we can create stronger solutions and support customers across a larger part of the value chain,” he explains.

Expanding opportunities in marine and energy
Marine applications will be central to KOHO’s business. Jens sees significant potential in combining pump and compressor expertise to deliver the critical components for integrated fuel and cargo-handling solutions.

“I have always believed in looking at the complete system rather than individual components. A strong compressor and a strong pump do not automatically create the best overall solution. But when these critical components come out of one hand they can be designed to work together and be supported by the right controls, service, and application knowledge,” he says.

This integrated approach will be increasingly important as the maritime industry adopts a wider range of energy carriers. Regardless of fuel type, customers will need equipment and expertise to manage various fluids and gases safely and efficiently.

Closer cooperation across pumps and compressors will strengthen Svanehoj’s ability to develop integrated marine fuel and cargo-handling solutions for LNG, LPG, ammonia, hydrogen, CO₂, and other demanding gases and liquids.

“KOHO already has the technology, expertise, and installed base. Our task is now to turn that foundation into a stronger international business and make compressor technology a deeper integral part of Svanehoj’s offering,” Jens concludes.
