Creating more pathways into technical careers at Svanehoj
Svanehoj is expanding its vocational training opportunities with approval to train apprentices in Production and Assembly and the appointment of a dedicated apprenticeship coordinator. The initiative will create new pathways into technical careers while providing apprentices to ensure an even more structured introduction to Svanehoj and close support throughout their training.
At Svanehoj, we are committed to giving young people opportunities to learn, develop, and build a career in an international environment. This includes student jobs, internships, graduate opportunities, and apprenticeships across different parts of the organization.
With the new approval to train apprentices within production and assembly, we are expanding these opportunities with a vocational education that is closely connected to the way our production is organized today.
“We want to play our part in developing the skilled workforce that industry will need in the years ahead. As a company of our size and position, we have a responsibility to invest in young talent, both to support our own future needs and to help strengthen the wider industry,” says André Jelstrup, Production Manager at Svanehoj.
A natural fit with Svanehoj’s production
The Danish vocational education and training program in production and assembly is closely aligned with the type of hands-on work carried out at Svanehoj.
“Assembly is a core part of how we build our pump solutions. That makes this education highly relevant for us. It allows apprentices to develop relevant skills in a real manufacturing environment and gain experience with the work they may later continue in as skilled employees,” explains André.
The education also provides a shorter route into skilled work. It takes approximately two and a half years, compared with around four years for many traditional technical educations, and can offer a practical entry point for young people who are considering a hands-on career.
Creating a stronger framework for apprentices
As part of the initiative, Svanehoj has appointed an internal apprenticeship coordinator to provide apprentices with consistent support throughout their training. The role will help create a clear link between school, day-to-day work, and the different areas of production they experience during their apprenticeship.
“The coordinator will be a dedicated point of contact for our apprentices. Someone they can turn to with all kinds of questions and rely on to help create continuity throughout their training” says André.
He adds:
“Our ambition is not simply to bring in apprentices, but to give them a strong foundation for their future career. We want them to learn the profession, understand how each task contributes to the final product, and leave Svanehoj with skills and experience they can build on.”
With the new training approval and apprenticeship coordinator role in place, Svanehoj is creating a stronger framework for apprentices in production and assembly. The initiative builds on the broader efforts to give young people opportunities to learn, develop, and build a career at Svanehoj.
We welcome candidates who are curious about technical production, enjoy solving practical problems, and want to learn through hands-on experience to explore our current opportunities.
