Open Innovation Lab Day showcases new technologies and engineering solutions at Svanehoj
From cryogenic high-pressure pumps and liquid-nitrogen testing to AI-supported engineering tools, Svanehoj's annual Open Innovation Lab Day gave employees an insight into the technologies, products, and engineering methods being developed across the organization.
At the annual internal exhibition, colleagues were invited to explore ongoing development activities and engage directly with the specialists behind them.
The event featured contributions from R&D, Engineering, Automation, Service, and the ESG organization. Colleagues could visit stands, review technical solutions, explore aftersales segments, try selected equipment, and discuss ongoing developments with colleagues across departments.
Developing and testing cryogenic pump technologies
A key topic this year was the ongoing development of Svanehoj's cryogenic high-pressure products. Attendees could also visit the cryogenic test area, where equipment is tested in liquid nitrogen at -196°C.
Sustainability was another important focus at the exhibition, highlighted by Svanehoj's new ESG targets towards 2030. These targets reflect the company's shift from a compliance-driven to an impact-driven approach, directly connecting sustainability goals to products and operations.
Svanehoj is developing solutions to support the transition to low- and zero-emission marine fuels while reducing the environmental footprint of its products through ongoing development and optimization.
Exploring the potential of AI in engineering
Another focus was AI's expanding role in engineering. At Svanehoj, AI is used to support programming, process large volumes of technical data, and streamline parts of the engineering workflow, freeing up time for engineers to focus on concept development, technical problem-solving, and new solutions.
Sharing knowledge and ideas across the organization
“The idea behind Open Innovation Lab Day is to create an informal setting where everyone can explore the work, ask questions, and connect directly with the engineers behind it. Some prefer to look around; others want to examine the equipment and discuss every detail. Here, there is room for both,” says Uffe Løjstrup Kristensen, Director, R&D & Technical Department.
The annual event provides an opportunity to share knowledge, gather feedback, and strengthen collaboration across teams and locations, helping connect ongoing development activities with expertise and perspectives from across the organization.
