Safe Large Volume Storage

Caverns provide significant benefits for large volume storage:

  • They are safer than pressurised spheres.
  • They provide the flexibility needed to store products.
  • They are economic to build.

Proper instrumentation to protect the safety

The capacity of a single LPG cavern is about 100,000 m3. Such huge volumes of LPG require proper instrumentation to protect both the gas and the storage.

Svanehøj Tank Control Systems has developed specific instrumentation and safety systems that ensure the safety of underground LPG storage facilities worldwide. This includes sophisticated monitoring instruments as well as underground emergency shut-off valves to prevent LPG leakage outside the cavern. They all meet stringent safety regulations to ensure that any potential hazards are identified and eliminated before they can cause problems.

Ensuring the safe storage of LPG underground

All of our products are designed to reduce risks and boost safety by providing the highest levels of accuracy, reliability and repeatability. As well as protecting the gas and the storage facilities, they also help to protect the surrounding environment and anyone working in the immediate area.'

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is actually a family of products that also includes petrochemical gas and liquefied chemical gas (such as vinyl chloride, ethylene, propylene, butadiene and ammonia).
