Attracting the next generation: Opening our world of pumps for students

The manufacturing industry in Denmark is facing a critical challenge: a growing shortage of skilled labor. At Svanehøj, we recognize the importance of addressing the shortage proactively, which is why we proudly partnered up with Aalborg Municipality in the initiative “DinFremtid” (“YourFuture”).

The project “DinFremtid” is designed to strengthen the connection between companies and young people in primary school to provide them with insights into different career paths in different industries.

Young people often have little exposure to the diverse job opportunities available to them. For this reason, Aalborg Municipality is offering students hands-on experience through internships, company visits and part-time jobs so they can discover exciting career paths they may never have considered.

From classroom to workshop: Engaging students in real-world problem-solving

As part of the program, Svanehøj has invited primary school students from 7-10th grade to our manufacturing facility in Aalborg (Svenstrup J.) in March and April to offer them a hands-on experience that goes beyond a simple company introduction. Through presentations, practical exercises and guided tours, they will get an introduction to some of the training programs, we offer and the people, we employ.

The aim is to inspire young students for skilled education and jobs, strengthen their interest in technical and practical subjects and show them how a company like Svanehøj contributes to solving current and future challenges through advanced technology and innovative solutions.

At Svanehøj, we believe this cooperation is a unique opportunity to showcase the opportunities of the maritime industry to the next generation of employees.

- As a production company, we need to step up and think more long-term if we want to ensure the workforce of the future. We must actively improve our ability to guide young people in making educational and professional decisions instead of just saying out loud that we need them. The decision is ultimately theirs, but we are committed to doing everything we can to help them make the greatest possible choice, says Mikkel Bülow Bundgaard Sørensen, Head of Production at Svanehøj.
