Svanehøj expands its business in Japan

Since 2020, order intake and staff have more than doubled at Svanehøj's office in Kobe, Japan. Now the department has moved into larger premises to accommodate the growing business and pursue new opportunities.

According to Hirohide Gohda, Director of Japan at Svanehøj, the success derives from closeness to a growing customer base in the Japanese market, while also new products, solutions, and services have been added to the portfolio. Based on almost 30 years of experience with LNG trade and supply chain development, Hirohide has in-depth insight into the Japanese shipbuilding market.

“It is all about being customer-centric, responsive, and courteous in attending to customer’s needs. It has brought us success, and we expect it to continue going forward. Japan, together with China and Korea, will continue to be an important market for Svanehøj”, Hirohide says.

A wide range of solutions for marine and land sectors

In line with the increasing demand for LNG as fuel, Svanehøj Japan has strengthened its range of solutions and services in the LNG segment. Following Svanehøj's acquisition of Wärtsilä Tank Control Systems in 2022 the Japanese department has added sales and service of safety instrumentation for LNG storage to the portfolio.

“The new Tank Control Systems business in France has become an integral part of our department here in Japan, and we are working closely with our French colleagues so that all opportunities are adequately attended to. LNG solutions for both the marine and land sectors are in significant demand, and we can now offer a wide range of solutions as well as aftersales services for both vessels and storage facilities”, Hirohide says.

Bari-Ship 2023: A perfect opportunity

This week, Svanehøj is attending Bari-Ship 2023 in Imabari. Here, Hirohide and his colleagues are showcasing Svanehøjs wide range of future-proof fuel- and cargo pump solutions, designed and engineered to handle all types of fluids and propellants, including LNG, LPG, CO2, methanol, and ammonia.

“Bari-Ship is a perfect opportunity for Svanehøj to showcase our quality products and, perhaps more importantly, our commitment to decarbonization in the maritime industry”, Hirohide says.
